We are looking for an experienced leader who can think strategically and deliver operational results. You have:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, technical business administration, or business administration
  • At least 7 years of experience in a senior leadership role within a technical project organization
  • Experience with project management, capacity planning, and organizational development
  • Strong skills in stakeholder management and change management
  • An analytical and structured way of working
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English

Job description

At MechDes Engineering, over 100 engineers work daily on complex technical projects for leading clients. To support further growth and professionalization and to future-proof the organization, we are looking for an Operations Director.

In this role, you lead the operational organization and ensure projects are executed efficiently, predictably, and with high quality. You translate strategy into concrete execution, monitor capacity, and ensure projects are delivered within scope, time, and budget.

What will you do?

As Operations Director, you are the hub of the operational organization. You focus on collaboration, performance, and continuous improvement. You are responsible for, among other things:

  • leading the operational organization, including Project Management, Recruitment, and Lead Talent & Performance
  • translating strategic objectives into concrete operational plans and improvement initiatives
  • ensuring efficient project execution within scope, time, and budget
  • optimizing capacity planning and resource management
  • developing a professional project organization with uniform methods and reporting
  • realizing strong collaboration between Sales, Engineering, and Operations
  • monitoring quality, safety, and customer satisfaction within projects
  • managing and developing leaders within the organization

You also work closely with the Technical Director, who is responsible for technical strategy and quality frameworks. Together, you ensure that innovation, engineering, and execution are aligned optimally.
